It was in 1907 that the Maison, which had 30 beds, welcomed its first residents. These were mainly elderly citizens with physical and intellectual difficulties, and were employed on the farm in order to pay for their housing.

In 1952, a section of the farm was sold and La Maison de Refuge became the Foyer Prescott-Russell. The site was then expanded in order to accommodate 93 residents. In 1977, the Foyer Prescott-Russell moved to its new location in Hawkesbury, with a capacity for 146 residents. It officially became known as the Prescott and Russell Residence.

In accordance with the aforementioned law and as per the recommendation of the United Counties Council, a management committee meets monthly to ensure that the Residence is administered to ensure the security and respect of their residents, in accordance with the law and the relevant regulations.
